Change Your Oil Every X,000 Miles, Please!
Note: Your mileage may vary .
Why?
Yes, we know Click and Clack and the manufacturers are now saying you only have to change your oil every 5000 to 6000 miles, or even 10,000 miles. Modern automotive engines burn so cleanly that corrosive compounds do not build up in the oil (or coolant) the way they did on your 1966 Nova II, modern lubricants have been formulated so they do not break down as quickly, and factory tolerances are tight.
But ...
Your car's history, your driving patterns, and your goals for your vehicle could all indicate a specific schedule that differs from the manufacturer's overall recommendation. Many of our customers fully expect to keep their current cars for over 200,000 miles, which calls for more frequent oil changes. We will be glad to discuss your particular needs and help you come up with the most economical plan.
Our oil changes are not quite the same as what you would get at the national lube chains. We know our clients' cars and routinely check brake pad thickness, hose and belt conditions, and a host of vehicle-specific items while your car is on the lift. This avoids nasty surprises.
We want your car to get the service it needs, and you want convenience, so we schedule while-you-wait oil changes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 45-minute intervals. If that won't fit your schedule, you'll find the cost of a loaner to be extremely reasonable.
The fluids we use
We use a very high quality semi synthetic blend on oil. we have 5W30 and 10W30 on tap. We have 5W20 (newer Honda's and Toyota's) and 5W40 synthetic "VW 505.00" for VW's in drums. Remember there is a difference between good oil and the right oil, and we make sure we know the right oil for your car and have it available!
