Matt & Vicky Hassrick, Owners: Matt started Matt’s Import Haven at its current location (6446 Harding Ave.) back in 1986. He built the shop and his business from the ground up. Matt has always been fascinated by how things work and was always taking things apart, even as a small child, to see how they ran. He started fixing cars at the tender age of 17 in Southern Oregon. He moved up to Whidbey Island in 1979 and began working on cars. Vicky grew up in New Jersey and moved from New York City to Whidbey Island in 1990. Yes, she did meet Matt at the shop! Vicky and Matt were married in 1991 and have 2 children, Dinah & Quinn. Together Matt & Vicky run the business, both are ASE Certified Service Consultants. They both enjoy walking and hiking in the woods with their dog Rosie, cross country skiing and attending their children’s numerous theatrical events and soccer games.
